With a growing membership of over 3,250 our Camberwell & Peckham constituency is an active and campaigning local Labour Party. We are one of the three Parliamentary Constituencies in the London Borough of Southwark. Our sister constituencies are Bermondsey & Old Southwark (BOS) and Dulwich & West Norwood (DAWN).

Each constituency has one elected Member of Parliament or MP. The MP for our Camberwell & Peckham constituency is the Rt Hon Harriet Harman QC who has served our community and the Labour Party for over 35 years.

Constituency Labour Party (CLP) Meetings

The members of our Camberwell & Peckham CLP meet on the third Thursday of each month at 8 PM. Our meetings are typically followed by an informal social get-together where all members are welcomed warmly. The only exceptions to our monthly meeting calendar are August summer break and December where our normal meeting is replaced by a festive, social function for all our members, friends and families. The venue for our monthly meetings is Theatre Peckham on Havil Street, Camberwell SE5.

Every alternate constituency monthly meeting is an ‘all-member meeting‘ where all members are welcome to attend and participate fully. Political education and discussion are important aspects of our our ‘all member meetings’ and we typically have a special guest speaker on a topical political subject with the opportunity to ask questions.

The remaining half of our monthly constituency meetings are ‘General Committee (GC) meetings‘. The CLP General Committee consists of annually elected officers and delegates from each branch plus local representatives of affiliated unions and socialist societies. Although all members are welcome to attend, the ‘General Committee meetings’ are more focussed on the practicalities of running the CLP effectively. For example, considering and voting upon motions from the branches.

Constituency Annual General Meeting

We hope that you’ll join us and participate fully in all our member monthly meetings and events but we know life gets in the way sometimes! So, if there is one meeting a year that you attend, this is the one; the Annual General Meeting.

Our branches and our constituency each hold one special meeting per year known as the Annual General Meeting or AGM.  Unless there is a general election, these special meetings normally take place in October, starting with our ten branches in the first week of the month and concluding with our constituency AGM in the third week of the same month.

For more information about our branch Annual General Meetings click here.

The constituency AGM is different to our regular Labour Party monthly constituency meetings in that our members have an opportunity to vote and stand for elected positions and to serve and contribute much more directly to the successful operation of our CLP for the year ahead. These voluntary, democratically elected officer roles are known as the CLP Executive Committee or EC.  The 15 elected Executive Committee roles are:

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair Campaigns
  • Vice Chair Membership
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Women’s Officer
  • BAME Officer
  • Disability Officer
  • LGBTQ+ Officer
  • Fundraising & Events Officer
  • Digital Media Officer
  • Campaigns Database Officer
  • Political Education Officer
  • Trade Union Liaison (TULO) Officer
  • Youth Officer (Under 27)
