The Camberwell and Peckham Labour Party is made up of ten active Labour Party Branches with an average of 320+ members in each. These are Camberwell Green, Champion Hill, Faraday, Goose Green & Dulwich Hill, Nunhead & Queens Road, Old Kent Road, Peckham, Peckham Rye, Rye Lane and St Giles.

With the recent boundary changes it may be unclear which branch you are with. Feel free to contact our CLP Secretary Dave Lewis for information and a warm, personal introduction to your own Branch Chair and Secretary.

Monthly Branch Meetings

All ten branches of the Camberwell & Peckham Labour Party meet on a monthly basis with the exception of August summer break and December where our normal monthly meeting is replaced with a festive celebration event for all our members and their families and friends.

The monthly branch meeting is a great opportunity to meet fellow Labour Party members in your immediate community, to share ideas, discuss policy, explore current issues and, of-course, to socialise and make friends with like-minded people in your neighbourhood. The monthly branch meeting is an excellent first step to getting involved and making the most of your Labour Party membership. Look out for bi-monthly emails from your Branch Secretary advising you of the date and agenda of the next meeting and news and minutes from the previous Branch meeting.

Our branches always meet on the first Thursday of the month at 8PM so go ahead and put these dates in your diary with confidence! There is only one exception and that is Nunhead & Queens Road Branch which meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 8PM.

Branch Annual General Meetings

Our branches and our constituency each hold one special meeting per year known as the Annual General Meeting or AGM.  Unless there is a general election, these special meetings normally take place in October, starting with our ten branches in the first week of the month and concluding with our constituency AGM in the third week of the same month.

For information about our constituency Annual General Meeting click here.

The branch AGMs are different to our regular monthly branch meetings in that our members have an opportunity to vote for or stand for elected positions and contribute directly to the successful operation of their branch for the year ahead. There are six executive positions in each branch. These are Branch Chair, Branch Vice Chair Campaigns, Branch Secretary, Branch Treasurer, Branch Women’s Officer and Branch BAME Officer. These six executive officers elected in each branch also have automatic voting rights in the General Committee or GC of the constituency.

In addition to electing the branch executive committee at an AGM, branch members also elect a number of General Committee delegates who then also have voting rights and represent the branch membership in the General Committee of the constituency. The total number GC delegate places allocated to each branch reflects the total membership numbers of each branch.
